Japan Motors supports farmers’ day celebration

Japan Motors Trading Company Ltd. (JMTC) has reaffirmed its commitment to the agricultural and fisheries sectors with a donation of essential equipment to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MoFAD) ahead of the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebrations.

In support of this year’s event, themed “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” Japan Motors presented two YAMAHA Motorbikes and two Yamaha Generators to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The gesture aims to facilitate field operations, monitoring, and other critical activities that contribute to national food security.

Concurrently, the company extended its support to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development with the donation of one YAMAHA Motorcycle, one Yamaha 40HP Outboard motor, and a Yamaha Water pump to enhance the Ministry’s outreach and coastal operations.

Two brief ceremonies were held at the respective ministries to officially hand over the items. Mr. Abdul-Somad Alhassan Musah, Assistant Managing Director of Japan Motors, accompanied by Mrs. Mabel Offei, Marketing Manager and Linda Mazimpaka, a Country Director were present to hand over the items on behalf of the company.

Mr. Alhassan Musah noted that Japan Motors remains committed to supporting government initiatives that promote sustainable agriculture, fisheries development, and improved livelihoods nationwide. He emphasized the company’s long-standing relationship with the two sectors and reiterated Japan Motors’ dedication to national productivity and community development.

The Minister of Food and Agriculture,  Eric Opoku, received the items on behalf of his Ministry. In his remarks, he expressed appreciation to Japan Motors for its continuous support, stating that such contributions significantly boost the Ministry’s capacity to improve agricultural extension services and farmer productivity.

At the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Hon. Emelia Arthur, the sector Minister, accepted the equipment and commended Japan Motors for its thoughtful intervention. She highlighted that the donation comes at a crucial time as the Ministry intensifies efforts to strengthen coastal surveillance, fisherfolk support services, and sustainable aquaculture initiatives.

41^st National Farmers Day

The 41st National Farmers’ Day, officially launched earlier, will be celebrated on Friday, December 5, 2025, with the national event scheduled to take place in Ho, Volta Region. The celebration aims to honour farmers and fisherfolks whose contributions continue to drive Ghana’s food security and economic resilience.
