Pupils, teachers and parents of Bedibobe D/A primary school, Kandin in the Northen Region, expressed joy after the Member of Parliament for the area, Simon Tampi Acheampong, responded swiftly to their call to re-roof the only six-unit classroom block serving over one thousand pupils in the community.
The block, which was ripped off by a rainstorm about seven months ago left the school without an option than to have classes under trees.
Academic activities usually came to an end anytime there were signs of heavy rains.
The destruction of the roof also affected several teaching and learning materials in the school.
An appeal was made to the MP who quickly mobilized materials to respond to the needs of the school by completely re-roofing and painting the classroom block.

The old school building
Some parents who could not hide their excitement to Citi News, underscored the impact of the assistance from the MP.
Secretary to the parents’ association of Kandin told Citi News how the gesture has brought some relief to them.
”We are very excited and grateful to the MP. This gesture will forever remain in the minds of the people of Kandin. When the building was pulled down by the storm, we couldn’t control our children at home because they were now studying under trees and they could easily sneak out. This is a relief to us the parents”.
The headteacher of the school, Bright Bitimenam Binurube also recounted how academic activities were previously distracted.
”When the block was ripped off, it was very difficult to get pupils to come, we were sitting under trees for a full term and as it is in the rainy season, academic activities were always disrupted because we needed to close anytime clouds were forming. But now that the MP has re-roofed the block, everyone is very happy for the kind gesture we really appreciate it. This will increase enrollment and academic activities will also go on smoothly.”

I always feel happy when I have rendered good service to my people and I also want tell them not to always hesitate to inform me about any development. I will always be available to assist.”
