Black Stars debutant, Caleb Ekuban, may have scored the winner against Kenya over the weekend but he says he will not feel upset if he does not get a place in the final team for the AFCON.
Ekuban came off the bench to score the winner in the 81st minute to mark a debut on his birthday and with the Black Stars forward line not scoring a lot, Ekuban may just make a claim for a spot in the team.
Currently, the likes of Asamoah Gyan, Jordan Ayew, Raphael Dwamena, Emmanuel Boateng are Kwesi Appiah’s options in terms of forwards.
Ekuban says he would like to be part of the setup but if that opening does not come during the AFCON, he will accept the situation.
“Everybody wants to be in a great tournament such as the African Nations Cup and I would like to be part of the team. Of course, missing out will not be nice for me but I will not be upset. It will only mean that other players have performed better in the build up and maybe, next time, I will get the chance.”
Ekuban has featured 21 times for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super League this season and has 4 league goals to his credit. He also 3 goals in 7 appearances in the Turkish Cup.
