President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed the former Managing Director of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Mr. Kwame Owusu as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
A letter from the Office of the President dated June 18, 2019 and sighted by citinewsroom.com congratulated Mr. Owusu for his appointment and urged him to indicate acceptance of the new role within 14 days.
The letter, signed by Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante said;
“Pursuant to section 4 (1) (a) of the Ghana Revenue Authority Act, 2009 (Act 791), the President of the Republic, in consultation with the Council of State, has appointed you as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Ghana Revenue Authority.”
Mr. Kwame Owusu reportedly resigned as MD of the Ghana Maritime Authority in February 2019.
He resigned a few weeks after he was accused of financial misappropriation at the company.
He is alleged to have superintended over questionable expenditure at the authority, including spending a million cedis to renovate his official residence.
Government subsequently instituted a probe into the matter.
