A middle-aged man in the Zomlampe Community in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah region has been shot dead in his sleep at his residence.
The incident which occurred on Wednesday night has since thrown the entire township into a state of fear and mourning.
The deceased is survived by his two wives and nine children.
Savannah Regional Police Commander, DCOP Tsum Bediako who confirmed the incident to Citi News said his outfit is working to apprehend the culprit.
“When he got information that the man had been shot, Police proceeded to his room and found the man in his bedroom so we conveyed the bodies to Tamale Teaching Hospital where a postmortem was done and the bodies were released to the family for burial but at that moment, no arrest has been made. We have not been able to lay hands on the suspect but we know that we will, by all means, catch up with the culprit.”
Ghana has recorded a number of murder cases in recent times.
The recent killing of an investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale and the Public Affairs Manager of the Tema Port are among the few cases recorded this year.
