Chief Justice Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkornoo is appealing to Traditional Authorities to create a clear land ownership database to assist the court in ensuring justice delivery when matters of such nature appear before it.
Speaking at this year’s annual Chief Justice Forum in Ho, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo urged traditional councils to support the court on issues of land administration, as it needs clear facts to be able to resolve such matters in court.
In resolving such challenges in the court system, she called on the traditional leaders and the National and Regional House of Chiefs to collaborate with the court in finding measures to address such challenges.
Her Ladyship Justice Torkornoo also called for the creation of a unique system to understand the Ghanaian challenges.
She, therefore, urged the public to embrace technology in dealing with the court.
Issues of land litigations have bedevilled the country for years, resulting in several land disputes and clashes.
Efforts to resolve some have proven futile, as clear records have not been made available to indicate the rightful owners of the land.
The situation has also affected justice delivery in several judicial institutions across the country.
