Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has confidently stated that the longstanding power challenges, commonly referred to as ‘dumsor,’ in the Ashanti Region have been effectively addressed.
Speaking on the progress made on Citi FM‘s Eyewitness News on Tuesday, Jinapor highlighted the significant improvements to infrastructure aimed at ensuring a stable power supply.
“As far as I am concerned, we’ve comprehensively dealt with it because we’ve powered a new bulk supply point which is about three times the capacity of the old one,” Jinapor announced.
He noted the enhanced capacity of the supply point as a crucial step toward resolving the region’s power issues.
Jinapor also revealed that he is expecting further updates on the System Average Frequency Interruption (SAFI), a key indicator of power distribution reliability.
“I have asked for an update, and I am getting the update tomorrow. They will provide me with the SAFI, which tells us what’s happened at the distribution point,” he explained.
The minister emphasised the government’s dedication to building upon inherited systems and improving service delivery.
“But we want to improve what we inherited, and that is exactly what we are doing,” he added.
