Queenmother of Sunyani, Akosua Duaa Asor Sika Brayie II, in a war regalia receiving condolences from well wishers
RESIDENTS IN Sunyani, Bono Region with the royal family of Boahene Korkor have started a six-day mourning and observation of the final funeral rites of the late Paramount Chief of the traditional area, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawire II.
As such, businesses, commercial, private, government, and school activities have been suspended until after the final funeral rites of the late chief expected to begin from April 1st, 2024.
Thus, the body of Nana Asor Nkrawire II whose reign lasted from 1981-2021 is now laid in state for filing past by members of the public, chiefs, members of business community, government appointees, the clergy, former and current Presidents and all well wishers from far and near.
As part of observing the funeral activities, the Queenother of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Sika Brayie II, and the acting President of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Kwaku Sarbeng, widows and children of the deceased were in state to receive condolences, sympathies as well as well wishes from love ones.
The principal streets of Sunyani Municipality were adorned with black and red cloth.
President John Dramani Mahama is expected to take his turn on Thursday April 4, 2024 whiles President Akufo-Addo takes final view on Friday, April 5, 2024.
One of the sights to behold and draw nostalgic feelings from dignitaries is the exhibition of an arts gallery of the late Chief’s reign interaction with high profile personalities such as former presidents Rawlings, Kufuor, Atta Mills, Mahama and President Nana Akufo-Addo.
