MTN Business recently organized a conference aimed at exploring the impact of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on businesses.
The one-day event was themed, “Driving Business Value through Data and AI.”
The event, which took place in Accra, brought together industry players, partners, and stakeholders to explore the transformative potential of data and artificial intelligence (AI) in the digital era.
The Chief Enterprise Officer of MTN Ghana, Angela Mensah Poku, explained that the event aimed to delve into how data and AI can optimize processes, create opportunities, and enhance digital experiences, all while delivering convenience and value for customers.
She emphasized the importance of collaboration among industry players, partners, and stakeholders in shaping the African technology ecosystem. Angela stated, “Data and AI are essential for business transformation, and through collaboration, we can play a crucial role in the African technology ecosystem.”
Angela highlighted the power of collective effort in shaping the future of the continent and creating innovative solutions to address challenges and seize opportunities. She urged everyone to harness their potential and make a positive impact.
Furthermore, Angela affirmed MTN Ghana’s commitment to enhancing digital experiences, delivering convenience, and creating value for customers through the utilization of data and AI.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Information Officer, Bernard Acquah expressed the need to incorporate AI into businesses to improve their organization and gain insights about business data, customers, and competition.
He emphasized that AI is a tool to enhance human capabilities and not to replace existing facilities. Mr. Acquah suggested that repetitive tasks could be delegated to AI, allowing humans to focus on more creative and strategic work. He explained, “If there’s something repetitive that you normally do, you can give that to AI to do, and you can focus your energy and creative powers on what humans do.”
Mr. Acquah further discussed the development of algorithms in human beings and the potential for biases to be embedded within them. He emphasized the importance of ongoing research and development of AI tools to eliminate biases and ensure fair and unbiased outcomes.
