New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team member, Grace Akosua Amoabeng, has assured Ghanaians that the party is united and ready to wrestle power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) on December 7, 2028.
Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV, Ms. Amoabeng mentioned that after the primary election, camps from the five presidential candidates have come together to fashion out ways to win the love and trust of the party members and the public at large.
She also revealed that, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s core mandate after the election is to unite every rank and file in the party, saying, “We’ll work together to make sure everybody is on board. We’ve had all of them coming to Dr. Bawumia’s house even before the election to congratulate him.
“We saw them at the party headquarters when the Electoral Commission declared the results. That showed us they’re all united. The other candidates will work solidly behind Dr. Bawumia to secure victory for the party. We’re one big family.”
Speaking on the overwhelming majority that voted for Dr. Bawumia during the primary election, Ms. Amoabeng indicated that the delegates acknowledged that “Dr. Bawumia is a candidate we have promoted for the past eight years, and needed to present him.”
“The NPP believes in political consistency. We know that if we bring Dr. Bawumia again, we’re going to win the elections in 2028. I told you we’re a united party. People believe he’s a candidate who can unite the party to win power. If we’re not united, there’s no way we’ll take power back from the NDC. With everybody coming on board, I know this is a sign of victory in the coming years,” she stressed.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged victorious in the NPP presidential primary, securing 110,643 votes, which represents 56.48% of the total valid votes. He won in 14 regions, with his closest competitors, Kennedy Agyapong and Dr. Bryan Acheampong, obtaining 46,554 votes (23.8%) and 36,303 votes (18.3%) respectively.
