Officials during a meeting
The Ghana Football Association has granted the National Juvenile Committee full authority to establish approved modalities for the registration of juvenile players, in a significant move under its “Power to the Youth” strategy to strengthen grassroots football development.
The decision was taken at the Executive Council meeting in January 2026, which brought together chairmen of all ten Regional Football Associations.
During the meeting, the Council formally mandated the committee to design and implement a standardised system for registering young players nationwide.
The new directive is aimed at ensuring consistency, transparency and alignment with national football development policies across all regions.
Under the leadership of Chairman JoeSalam Abubakar, the National Juvenile Committee will develop practical procedures, clear guidelines and compliance frameworks to streamline the registration process.
The system is expected to cover all age-grade categories and operate uniformly across regional jurisdictions.
Clubs, schools and football academies will be required to adhere to the approved standards in registering, monitoring and reporting juvenile players, helping to create a reliable national database of emerging talents.
The move is also intended to professionalise the management of grassroots football, laying a stronger foundation for identifying, nurturing and tracking future national team prospects.
With the new mandate in place, the FA is reinforcing its commitment to building a structured and sustainable pathway for youth development across the country.
