IEA postpones Presidential Debate to November 21
Accra, Nov. 19, GNA – The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) on Monday rescheduled the 2nd Election 2012 Presidential Debate from November 20 to November 21 at the Banquet Hall of the State House.
Mrs Jean Mensa, IEA Executive Director announced this in a statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
The debate seeks to provide a common platform for the Presidential Candidates, whose political parties have Parliamentary representation, to respond to questions on various aspects of the nation’s development process.
The first debate took place in Tamale on October 30, taking the form of a policy dialogue during which the presidential candidates presented their viewpoints, plans and programmes.
They also pointed out the weaknesses in the policies and programmes of their co-contestants and presented alternative views.
Following balloting conducted by the political Parties, the Presidential Candidates will be seated as follows: President John Dramani Mahama, National Democratic Congress Presidential Candidate; Dr Michael Abu Sakara Forster, Convention People’s Party; Mr Hassan Ayariga, People’s National Convention and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, of the New Patriotic Party.
