Referees Association inaugurate office complex in Cape Coast
Cape Coast March 25, GNA - Mr Matthew Doe, Central Regional Chairman of Ghana Football Association (GFA) over the weekend commissioned a GH 60,000 office complex for the Cape Coast Metro Referees Association in Cape Coast. The project, the second of its kind after Tema office, was financed by members through special contributions and donations from individuals.Mr Doe commended the Association for constructing the office and hoped they would use it to promote the welfare of members and football. He said referees play significant roles in promoting football and appealed to them to ensure that they do the right thing when handling matches. A former Regional chairman of the Association Mr Michael Atta Dadzie, who donated GH 200.00 as a contribution to the project, expressed concern about behaviour of some referees during league matches and urged them to ensure fair officiating when handling matches adding, let us try to maintain our dignity and credibility to win public confidence. Mr Alex Quartey National Chairman of Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) thanked the Metro Executives for constructing the office and hoped the incoming executives would ensure regular maintenance of the office. He told the members that good name is better than riches and urged them not to allow club officials to influence them during matches and that the executives would punish members who infringe the rules of the game. He commended the donors for contributing towards the construction of the office complex and pledged that RAG would provide five referees uniforms and 10 books on the rules of the game to the association. In another development, Mr Alex K. Appiah was elected chairman of the Central Region Referees Association of Ghana with Mr Joseph Mensah as vice at its Quadrennial Congress. Reverend James K. Odoom was voted as Secretary, with Mr Atta Assan taking up the Assistant Secretary position while Mr Prince Amoah was elected Treasurer. Other officers elected were Kennedy Bentil - Instructor, Mr Charles Kofi Nyarko Deputy Instructor, Mr Kofi Onoma Protocol officer while Mr Fred Andoh and Joseph Aboraborah were elected to serve on the executive board.GNA
