He said the church could not be indifferent to the unrestrained destruction of the forest and pollution of the water bodies.
He was speaking at his induction service held at Akyem-Batabi near Oda in the Birim Central Municipality.
Pastor Nyarko said as Christians they were enjoined to “be responsible stewards of the Lord’s creation”.
“We have to ensure that we live in harmony with our environment, take good care of all animals and nature for the safety of the present generation and posterity.”
He expressed worry about the growing degradation of the environment and said all needed to act together to stop that.
There should be sustained campaign to help everybody to appreciate the harm being done and the dire consequences of “our actions and inaction”.
He called for radical altitudinal change, adding that, it was time the people stopped complaining and took steps to correct the wrongs.
Pastor T. T. Ocran of the Southern Ghana Union Conference of SDA Church asked Christians to remain unwavering in their faith and to be confident about the future.
