Accra, Mar 21, GNA – The Accra Psychiatric Hospital has been presented with a number of items in support of the upkeep of the in-patients.
These included fruit drinks, soap, toilet roll, disinfectants, clothes’, shaving kits, diapers and slippers.
They were a joint donation by the youth of Ring-way Estate Prince Emmanuel, and the Osu Bethel branches of the Accra City Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
This was timed to coincide with the celebration of the Global Youth Day of the church and provided the opportunity to worship with the patients.
Mr. Cyril Nai, Youth Leader of the Prince Emmanuel SDA Church, reminded Christians to do more to bring hope and soothe the pain of the sick and the needy in society.
He said it was important to assist provide for their materials needs and to continue to pray for them.
He called for people to give support to those having mental health problems and said they should not be stigmatized.
Mrs. Hajara Okai, a Nurse at the Hospital, thanked the youth for the gesture and appealed for increased public assistance to take good care of the patients.
The facility, with a capacity to hold 600 patients, has been having challenges with medical supplies and funding.
