Kintampo(B/A) March 21, GNA - Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has urged students of the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School not to be traumatised by the death of their colleagues who were crashed by a fallen tree at the Kintampo Water Falls.
He said the tragedy was unfortunate, but there was nothing that could be done but to ask God ‘to accept their souls.’
The Vice President was addressing students and staff of the school at Wenchi as part of his visit to kintampo with his entourage to assess the situation and to commiserate with the families of the departed ones.
Dr Bawumia stated that the tragedy had taken a national dimension as it affected the whole country.
He entreated the remaining students to overcome their fear and pains but to remain resolute on their studies.
The Vice President said government would not allow families of the victims to bear the cost alone and would therefore support each family of the deceased with GH?2,000.00 for the organisation of funeral rites and would also give GH?1,000.00 to those on admission to help foot their medical bills.
At Wenchi, the Vice president visited the family of one of the victims, Agartha Tamea, a form two student, where he consoled and donated an undisclosed amount to the family.
Dr Bawumia was accompanied by Mr Albert Kan Dapaah, the Minister of National Security, Mr Ambrose Dery, Minister of Interior, Madam Catherine Ablema Afeku, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and Mr Kweku Asomah - Cheremeh, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister.
