Kumasi, May 31, GNA - Muslim parents have been told to take special interest in the education of their children to help them to make meaningful contribution to the nation’s development.
Sheikh Dr. Ismail Saeed Adam, a Muslim Cleric, said no child should be denied the right to education
He was delivering the sermon at this year’s “Tafsir of the Glorious Quran” an annual ritual that coincides with the Ramadan.
It involves giving lively commentary on the Quran to help adequately inform the Islamic faithful of their responsibilities to grow the religion.
Sheikh Dr. Adam said the society needed knowledgeable people to address its development challenges.
“It is unto the Muslim community to ensure that our children get the best of education to improve the literacy rate”, he said.
This year’s event was held under the theme “Islam and nation’s development”.
He used the platform to entreat all to be patriotic and join the campaign against illegal mining, popularly known as ‘galamsey’.
The wanton destruction of the environment could have dire consequences for everybody, he added.
He called for prayers for the nation’s leaders to enable them to make the right decisions and rule justly.
Alhaji Ibrahim Anyars, assembly member for Sawaba, advised the youth to reject violence and lawlessness.
He asked them to be tolerant and accept to live in peace and harmony with their neighbours.
