Dambai (V/R) Oct. 25, GNA - Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister has raised concerns over the bad state of roads in the northern parts of the region, saying they posed health risks to communities living along the stretch, particularly in the dry seasons.
He has therefore directed the Ghana Highway Authority and the Department of Feeder roads to conduct needs assessment and prioritise roads in the area.
A good number of roads traversing the Krachi areas have never been tarred, especially roads in the Krachi Nchumuru and Nkwanta North districts.
The few tarred roads had long decayed and appeals for good roads by traditional authorities and Assembly members characterised the Regional Minister’s engagements with the people.
Nana Mprah Besemuna, Paramount Chief of Krachi said bad road networks had cut off some areas from the rest of the country and expressed hope that the completion of the Eastern Corridor road and the construction of a proposed bridge over the Oti River would connect the areas.
He said the situation had discouraged investors, stimulated migrations and had left quality educational facilities unpatronised.
