Koforidua (E/R), Nov 03, GNA – A local NGO, ‘Eastern Harvest Food Bank’ has launched a project to feed the poor and the needy.
It has targeted to provide food aid to over 10,000 such people, including the aged, every year.
The NGO has over the past two-and-a-half months been feeding about 1,500 needy people in the New Juaben Municipality.
The beneficiaries twice receive food stuff and other items from the NGO to keep them and their families going.
Mr. Eric Darko, the Director told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that for now they had limited the assistance to those above the age of 50, who “are sick and inactive”.
He said the support, with time, would be extended to other districts and regions across the nation to bring relief to more vulnerable people.
He added that the NGO had been receiving support from individuals, philanthropists and corporate bodies for the sustenance of the project.
