Accra, July 24, GNA - eTV Ghana in partnership with Japan Motors has launched the 2018 edition of the Corporate Run and Walk, exercise to enable busy corporate entities maintain healthy lives.
The 2018 exercise which is the 8th edition, is slated for September 21.
Addressing the media in Accra during the launch of the exercise, Mr. Salah Kweku Kalmoni, the Event Director, said the exercise was the longest professional run in the country.
He noted that, among the participants, would be 10 individuals from the Ghana Blind Union, who would be sponsored by the organisers.
Mr Kalmoni said there would be awards for over 70 participants and groups including fastest three men, fastest three women, fastest visually impaired participants, fastest over 60 years participant, fastest Chief Executive Officers (CEO), fastest Managers and fastest Entrepreneurs for individual Entrepreneurs that participate as a sole entity.
He said the rewards for the participants would include Yamaha Motor Cycle and Generator, printers and photocopiers.
Mr Kalmoni disclosed that, the start off would be at the Silver Star Tower on the Airport liberation road to 37 and Elwak Sports Stadium, then through to Airport City and back to the Tower.
He said: “The five kilometer race would start with a check up on the participants as well as aerobics at 06:30 and they expected back at 09:30".
There would also be two water points where one would be placed in the middle of the distance to be run and one at the end.
Security would also be intensified with ribbons and wrist bands for participants at vantage points of the distance to prevent some participants from cheating”.
Mr Ernest Boateng, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Media Alliance said a percentage of the proceeds made from the exercise would be donated to the Ghana Blind Union.
He disclosed that all winners would be given medals, adding that the exercise would be broadcasted live on Facebook and on eTV.
Mr Boateng noted that the exercise was more of keeping the participants fit, healthy and networking with each other and not a profit making avenue, hence the absence of cash prizes.
He encouraged corporate institutions and CEOs as well as entrepreneurs to pick up registration forms for a Corporate team of five at GH¢300.00 and for a single participant at GH¢30.00 at the offices of their sponsors including the Silver Star Tower, Happy FM and YFM at the Accra Mall to take part in the event.
