Koforidua (E/R), Oct. 29, GNA – Right Reverend (Dr) Emmanuel Kwadwo Asare-Kusi has been inducted into office as the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Methodist Church.
Rt. Rev. Asare-Kusi, former Circuit Minister for the Adweso Circuit of the Methodist Church near Koforidua, was elected bishop at the last synod of the church in April.
Bishop Asare-Kusi, 58, was ordained into the priesthood in 1993.
Preaching the sermon at the induction ceremony, Most Reverend Dr Paul Boafor, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, reminded the new bishop that he was being inducted into office at the time when the priesthood has been infiltrated by priests who are preaching false teachings.
He urged Bishop Asare-Kusi to preach the word of God wherever he found himself.
Most Rev Dr Boafor warned Bishop Asare-Kusi not to think that because of his experience as an evangelist and a church planter, he would be able to achieve his mandate as a Bishop by relying on his experience alone, adding that he would need the grace of God.
Most Rev Boafor said at the appropriate time, the church would take on some of the priests in the Methodist Church whose actions are not biblical.
