Bolgatanga, Oct. 29, GNA – Thieves have broken into the Upper East Regional Office of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and made off with the only two desktop computers in the newsroom.
They also stole three laptop computers, accessories and unspecified number of cartridges from a computer training centre – SIGA Computers, located on the first floor of the two-storey building.
The incident happened at about 0400 hours, on Saturday, and there has not been any arrest.
Worshippers attending an “All Night Service” organized by the Christ Embassy Church, close to the building, had noticed an unusual movement of some people, became suspicious and alerted the security men around the premises.
Before they could react, the thieves fled leaving behind a ladder they had used to access the office and training centre, together with computers and accessories believed to have been stolen in an earlier operation.
A formal report was later made to police and investigators visited the crime scene,
Mr. Edmond Addo, the Bolgatanga Municipal Crime Officer, vowed to do everything to arrest and bring to justice the criminals.
He advised everybody to be more security conscious and to help to flag up those who had chosen to live outside the law to the police for their arrest and prosecution.
