Accra, March 22, GNA - Raging storms of unprecedented levels hit parts of the Greater Accra Region in the early hours of Friday morning.
Some residents of Ashongman Estates in the Ga East District, who experienced it at about 0420 hours heard strong howling winds pounding their closed doors and windows at sustained intervals amidst light rains.
This, however, gave way to heavy rains just before 0500 hours.
"This is definitely a climate change experience and we pray nobody will be in harm's way," commented a resident.
Accra is hosting Africa's Climate Change Conference with a call from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who opened it, to take preventive, mitigative and adaptative measures more seriously.
Meteorologists at a media conference in Accra, a couple of days ago, warned of heavier rains over last year's record for the Southern part of the country.
