Butumagyebu (W/R), Dec. 25, GNA - The Women's Wing of the Christian Council of Churches in the Western Region have celebrated Christmas with the inmates of the Father's Home Orphanage at Butumagyebu in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis.
The women, led by Mrs Sarah Naana Van-Ess, the Regional President, took the children through series of counselling, exhortation, praises and worship before presenting to them the assorted Christmas packages.
They also wined and dined with them to symbolise the love Jesus expected believers to share with all men.
The items, including assorted drinks, bottled water, biscuits and packaged foods were presented to Madam Charlotte Amakye, an Administrative Assistant of the Home.
Mrs Van-Ess said: "True worship means providing for the less privileged and so we the Women's Wing saw it as a duty to put food on the tables of these ones, particularly as we all celebrate and remember the significant contribution of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus to Mankind".
She said the Council had met the needs of various groups during the year, adding; "We were at the Sekondi Female Prisons the last time to undertake a similar exercise".
Mrs Amakye, on her part, expressed gratitude to the women and called on other organsations to assist the inmates to make their Christmas celebration memorable.
