Accra, Dec. 25, GNA - The Veterans Administration, Ghana (VAG) has presented hampers to ex-military officers on admission at the 37 Military Hospital, as part appreciating and recognising their efforts.
Leading the Team, Captain Ben Edmund Duah (Rtd), the Executive Director of VAG, presented 18 hampers to the members in five different wards at the Hospital.
They include a former Chief of Defence Staff, ex-warrant officers, ex-sargeants, and ex-private officers receiving treatment at the Anoff, Tamaklo, Easmon, Bandoh and Medical Emergency wards.
Capt. Duah, in his interaction with the Veterans, wished them speedy recovery.
He said the gesture, which the Administration started last year, sought to extend a helping hand to the Veterans on admission “so that they know we still care about them”.
He said the Administration would continue to support and appreciate members for their sacrificial services to the nation.
Capt. Duah said it was necessary to appreciate those who continued to sacrifice their lives to protect the nation, adding; “A nation, which does not honour its heroes is not worth dying for.”
He said it was time Ghanaians took the poppy campaign seriously to indicate their support and appreciation of veterans.
He urged Ghanaians to embrace the poppies by wearing them in honour of those who died for the nation.
The poppy period is earmarked to show appreciation for all veterans, who had suffered in various circumstances to protect the country.
