Ghanaian coach Joseph Degraft Johnson has hailed the impending 2017 Tertiary Football League as a massive platform to identify talents.
The historic 10-week competition rolls out this weekend with host the University of Ghana clashing with city rivals Accra Technical University in the opening match in the Southern zone on Saturday.
Enthusiam is building in the air for the maiden University league which is expected to breed new crop of talented footballers for the West African nation.
And British-trained coach and former University player, Joseph Degraft Johnson, is excited with the initiative, predicting a massive boom in football talents.
"It will help develop the game of football in Ghana in many ways.People while they study can also enjoy their sport," he said
"It's massive and it's always great when people start initiative like these. It's going to be very good.
"When I played for the British Polytechnic, we played against Wales University and one of the players ended up playing for Lutton Town as a professional.
"The reality is, opportunity will be there for some of those players.
The mouth-watering fixture involving the University of Ghana and Accra Technical University will serve as a springboard for other matches expected to thrill fans in Ghana.
The rest of the games will kick-in next Saturday October 7 where the Southern and Northern teams will get busy with their opening matches.
