Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has been picked by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah to captain the Black Stars in the friendly match against Japan on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old had a superlative season for the Rojiblancos in the just ended Spanish league campaign, scoring three goals in 28 league appearances as they finished second behind Barcelona.
He also played an instrumental role in the side's UEFA Europa League triumph.
Kwesi Appiah's side currently has a long list of absentees, including captain Asamoah Gyan and deputy captain Andre Ayew, as well as Agyemang Badu, John Boye, Harrison Afful Jordan Ayew and Christian Atsu.
Partey has been handed the armband and is expected to play further up the field against the Blue Samurai at the Nissan Stadium.
