Former Dreams FC midfielder Emmanuel Eli Keke is surprised after being named best player of the first round in the Icelandic Delid League.
The 22-year-old has been in great form for Olafsvik Vikingur in the Icelandic second-tier as they occupy second spot at the end of the first round.
The Ghana youth player has taken the league by storm with his consistent display, having helped Vikingur conced just nine goals in 13 league games.
His outstanding performances in the Icelandic league earned him the accolade, which he feels is surprising.
“It has been so far so good for me, being named as the best player in the first round of the league is a good morale booster for me,” Eli told footballmadeinghana.com
“It really came as a surprise to me as I wasn’t expecting it due to the competitive nature of the league and the clubs. My team mates and I have been giving off 100% so it could have been given to anyone.”
Eli also indicated that he is ready to offer more in the second phase of the league which has already begun.
“The second round is underway already with two games played. We drew at home last night in the top of the table clash. My expectations stays the same, to give off my best, improve upon my weakness and help the team attain promotion to the Pepsi and also reach the finals of the Icelandic Cup.”
