Schalke 04 on the hunt for new left-back to compete with Baba Rahman

German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 are looking to bolster their left-back position after Bastian Oczipka was ruled out for the start of season.

The Glesheckirken-based side are short of options at the left back position, with Ghana's Baba Rahman being recognized as the only senior player at the position after news broke out that Bastian Oczipka will miss the start of the season with an injury.

Baba Rahman was sidelined for almost two years after picking up an injury in the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon but made an appearance on the final day of the German Bundesliga for Schalke when they beat Eintracht Frankfurt- since rejoining the club in January from Chelsea.

Despite his progress in pre-season, Coach Domenico Tedesco has doubts whether Baba can withstand the double burden of Bundesliga and Champions League.

The coaching, scouting team and manager Christian Heidel have already began the search to bring another defender on loan.
