Frenchman Patrice Neveu has been appointed the new head coach of the Gabon national team.
The Sports Minister Alain Billie By-Nze made the announcement on Thursday in Libreville.
Neveu is replacing Daniel Cousin who was dismissed from the post after failing to guide the Panthers to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Cousin was relieved of his duties as head coach few days after drawing 1-1 with Burundi in Gabon's last qualifying fixture in March.
The 65-year-old's main task is to qualify the Panthers to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Cameroon.
Neveu was sacked by Guinea club Horoya AC earlier this year after guiding them to the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.
He has loads experience in Africa having coached the national teams of Mauritania, DR Congo and Niger.
The well-travelled tactician led Guinea to the quarter-finals of the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Neveu has also had stints with clubs like Smouha SC and Ismaily SC all in Egypt.
