Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has expatiated on the reason behind his celebration after pulling a brilliant save to deny Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Dauda made a fantastic save to deny Ronaldo and Portugal in the final game of Group G.
The veteran custodian did not hide his joy after pulling off the impressive stop as he jubilated by punching the air.
Despite his heroic save, the former AshantiGold goalkeeper was beaten by the five-time Ballon d’OR in the 80th minute to help Portugal win the game.
‘’Before the World Cup, we knew our group so the technical team did an analysis on the opponent players and what every Ghanaian player must do on the field of play against these opponents,” Dauda told Ghanaweb.
‘’We the goalkeepers knew that Ronaldo was good in set-pieces, long-range balls and aerial duels so we made adequate preparations for Ronaldo ahead of the game. When the situation came and I saved the header, I knew I had done well to replicate what I learnt at the training ground hence my decision to celebrate that save,” ’he added.
