EXCLUSIVE: Ghanaian clubs want 3 Premier League teams relegated NOT 5

Clubs in Ghana have sent an SOS petition to get three teams relegated from the top-flight instead of five ahead of the Ordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association on Thursday, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

Both Premier and Division One League clubs want a reduction of number of the teams that will be yanked from the elite and lower divisions.

Congress, the highest decision making body of the Ghana Football Association approved an 18-team league with a 5-team relegation at its extraordinary congress on October 25 during the Normalisation period.

But after a thorough engagements, the clubs have resolved to get the number reduced to three.

While the clubs want an 18-team league structure maintained, relegating an astonishing five teams appear to be on the high side- leading to the decision to petition the Ghana FA.

The motion will be put to Congress for deliberation and will require 75% of Congress composition to be accepted and approved.

The widely-accepted petition is extremely popular among clubs in the West African nation, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

It appears the clubs accepted the proposal from the Normalisation Committee in a bid to prevent a further extension by the erstwhile interim body of the association.
