Asante Kotoko attacker Songne Yacouba has emerged as the most exciting player in Ghana as the 2019-2020 Premier League beckons, an African Sports Centre for Data, Research and Technology (ASC) survey indicates.
In the 2019 Ghana Premier League Report released on Tuesday, the Burkina Faso international tops the pack, having been chosen by 16 per cent of respondents as the "one player they are most excited about or most looking forward to watching" in the upcoming season which commences on Saturday.
His top status is likely a result of his fine showing for the Porcupine Warriors in the 2018-2019 Caf Confederation Cup.
Yacouba just pipped club-mate Felix Annan to the top spot by 1%.
Another Kotoko player, Emmanuel Gyamfi, came third with 11%, while Ashanti Gold striker Shafiu Mumuni placed fourth with 7%.
There was a tie between Kotoko's Justice Blay and the Hearts of Oak duo of Joseph Esso and Manaf Gumah for the fifth position. Kotoko's Jordan Opoku and Augustine Okrah and Hearts' Mohammed Fatawu, in that order, complete the top 10.
The ASC Ghana Premier League Report is a research document with insights into consumer/fan behaviour about the Ghana Premier league in relation to revenue opportunities and possibilities. It focuses on Interest and Awareness, Patronage and Consumption and Commerce.
The overall survey, with a sample size of 3000 participants, was conducted in Ghana between October and November. Data was collected in every district in all administrative regions of Ghana.
