Asante Kotoko must improve chance conversion â?? Prosper Ogum
Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has identified goal conversion as the main area his team needs to improve after their recent return to action. He made this statement after Kotokos 1-0 victory over Sekondi XI Wise in the MTN FA Cup round of 16 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday.A first-half goal from Kyei Baffour secured the win, sending Kotoko into the quarterfinals, where they will face True Democracy.Kotoko recently resumed football activities following a temporary suspension due to the tragic death of a fan, Francis Pooley Frimpong, who was fatally stabbed during violence at a Ghana Premier League match.Speaking after the FA Cup game, Dr. Ogum praised their defensive solidity and creativity in attack but stressed the need for better finishing.Defensively we looked very solid, offensively, there is a lot of creativity there, what is left is to put the ball at the back of the net. Like you saw today, look at the first half, the first 15 minutes, obvious opportunities we were missing them. What do I think out of the two games we have to improve? I think its all about conversion. Once we are able to work on our conversion that will be fine for us.Kotoko will return to Ghana Premier League action on Saturday, March 16, against FC Samartex in Samreboi. They currently lead the 16-team league standings ahead of the fixture.
