Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed his delight after netting a sensational winner in Leicester City’s narrow victory over Charlton Athletic in the Championship.
The Black Stars attacker, who has just returned from a long-term ACL injury suffered in November 2024, made only his third appearance of the season but delivered in spectacular fashion.
His stunning strike from just inside the right edge of the penalty area sailed into the top corner, sealing a 1-0 win for the Foxes.
After the game, the 21-year-old described the goal as the release he had been waiting for after months of frustration and recovery.
“This was the moment I have been waiting for. It was a good time to take it [the shot]. I just want to say that I’m so happy with the team and everyone supporting with my rehab and it’s good to have a moment like this to feel happy,” Issahaku told Leicester City media.
Issahaku was one of Leicester’s standout performers during their 2023/24 promotion campaign, but his injury setback robbed him of the chance to shine consistently in the Premier League. Now back to full fitness, he is determined to reignite his form and push the Foxes towards another promotion challenge.
Leicester will next face Birmingham City on Friday, August 29, with fans hoping Issahaku’s strike marks the beginning of a strong run of form.
