Bayern Munich will not approach Manchester United in January to sign English midfielder of Ghanaian descent, Kobbie Mainoo, GHANAsoccernet has learned.
Although speculations in the past week had linked the German Champions with a move to sign the youngster, sources have confirmed that Mainoo is not on Bayern’s list of targets.
Unsettled since last summer, Kobbie Mainoo requested a loan move before the transfer deadline. United declined, citing the late timing and difficulty in securing a suitable replacement.
The club informed him he would compete directly with Bruno Fernandes, but the Portuguese has started every Premier League match and missed only eight minutes across the first 15 fixtures.
Mainoo, by contrast, has yet to start a league game, appearing mostly as a late substitute.
SSC Napoli are said to be considering a move to sign the midfielder but are yet to make contact with Manchester United.
While Mainoo is open to a loan move away from Manchester United to secure regular playing time, leaving the club in the winter transfer window appears uncertain.
