AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has conceded that the club is set to lose a “top and incredible” player following Antoine Semenyo’s imminent move to Manchester City.
The Ghana international is expected to undergo his medical on Thursday, bringing the curtain down on a memorable two-year spell with the Cherries.
Semenyo marked what appears to be his final outing for Bournemouth in emphatic fashion, scoring the decisive goal in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Vitality Stadium. The 25-year-old cut an emotional figure at full-time as supporters rose to applaud him after the final whistle.
Reflecting on Semenyo’s influence since his arrival from Bristol City, Iraola did not hide his admiration, describing the forward as one of the finest players he has worked with.
"A top professional," Iraola told Premier League Production. "We are not [only] losing an incredible player but one of the best players I have ever coached.
"He is a top guy, so full of energy and ready for whatever you need him. I am sure he will continue his development because he has improved every season with us," he added.
Semenyo has enjoyed a prolific campaign, scoring 10 goals in 19 appearances for Bournemouth this season.
