Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has acknowledged that multiple challenges have contributed to the team’s uneven form in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. The Porcupine Warriors had hoped to narrow the gap on league leaders Medeama SC but were dealt a blow after losing to Nations FC over the weekend. Their struggles continued as they suffered a surprising 3-1 defeat to Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium. The result leaves Kotoko in fifth place with 35 points, eight adrift of Medeama at the summit. "There are a lot of factors affecting us. We brought in good players, but some of them suffered injuries," Zito told Asempa FM. "This is football; sometimes you will get it right, and sometimes you will get it wrong. "But I believe that sometimes, as a coach, you will have to keep learning and improving yourself regardless of the situation," he added. Despite their inconsistent league form, Kotoko will now turn their attention to the FA Cup Round of 16 clash against Aduana FC this weekend at the Baba Yara Stadium.
