Former Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has praised preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the work being done by the Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministry as encouraging.
Ghana have been drawn in a group with Panama, Croatia and England at the World Cup.
As part of preparations for the tournament, the Black Stars are expected to play international friendlies against Austria and Germany. Another friendly has been scheduled against Mexico, while talks are ongoing for a possible match against Wales.
Speaking on Connect FM 97.1, Inkoom said the steps being taken ahead of the tournament show that the team is approaching the competition with the right level of planning and seriousness.
According to the former Black Stars defender, the recent addition to the national team’s technical staff is also a positive move as Ghana prepares for the global tournament.
"The pre-tournament preparation by the GFA and the Sports Ministry has been great. The new addition to the technical team is a good one," Inkoom said.
He stressed that thorough preparation, including monitoring opponents, will be crucial if Ghana are to perform well at the tournament.
"Football is all about preparation, and I am happy we are preparing well. If you’re going to the World Cup without properly monitoring your opponents, the tournament will be very difficult for you and you won’t enjoy the tournament," he added.
