Ghana international Prince-Osei Owusu registered his first goal of the 2026 Major League Soccer season as CF Montreal cruised to an emphatic 3-0 victory over New York Red Bulls on Sunday night at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison.
The Black Stars forward gave the visitors the perfect start after just eight minutes when he calmly converted from the penalty spot to put Montreal ahead.
Owusu stepped up confidently and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to hand the Canadian side an early lead, marking his first goal of the campaign after three appearances.
Montreal maintained control of the match and doubled their advantage on the brink of halftime through Venezuelan midfielder Wikelman Carmona.
The attacking midfielder latched onto a loose ball inside the area and finished neatly to give the visitors a comfortable cushion going into the break.
The visitors continued their dominance in the second half and put the game beyond reach in the 68th minute.
Carmona once again found the back of the net, completing his brace with a well-taken finish to seal an impressive away victory for Montreal.
Owusu played an influential role in the attack before making way in the 61st minute for Mexican forward Daniel Rios.
The 29-year-old Ghanaian striker will be hoping to build on this performance as Montreal look to maintain their strong start to the new MLS campaign.
His goal also serves as a confidence boost as he aims to play a key role for the club throughout the 2026 season.
