Hearts of Oak have issued a stern rebuttal to "sensational" media reports claiming the club is embroiled in a financial and internal crisis.
In an official statement released on March 11, 2026, the Phobians dismissed allegations of an emergency meeting triggered by player unrest, characterizing the recent gathering at Kpobiman as a "routine engagement" aimed at strengthening team bonding and technical support.
The club’s reaction follows widespread reports which claimed that players are grappling with "psychological instability" due to unpaid salary arrears and bonuses.
These reports suggested that the financial distress had reached a point where players were struggling to settle basic utility bills at the clubhouse.
Additionally, claims surfaced that the squad expressed dissatisfaction with the playing surface at the Legon Stadium and complained about "incessant insults" from frustrated supporters following a string of poor results, including a recent 0â0 draw against Basake Holy Stars.
Hearts of Oak’s management has labeled these claims as "inaccurate, misleading, and unsubstantiated," asserting that they do not reflect the true spirit of the discussions held with the playing body.
The club warned media houses against circulating unverified information that could damage its reputation, reserving the right to take legal action against defamatory content.
Hearts of Oak is currently fourth in the Ghana Premier League after 25 matches, having maintained a strong defensive record but struggling with an inefficient attack.
The team is on a worrying run of four consecutive home games without scoring in 2026, most recently being held to a 0â0 draw by Basake Holy Stars after being reduced to ten men.
