Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has outlined the Black Stars' training schedule ahead of Friday's friendly against Austria, explaining the limited preparation time that influenced Otto Addo's squad decisions.
Speaking after Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer's late arrival in Vienna, Asante Twum detailed the team's schedule as they finalise preparations for the first of two crucial pre-World Cup friendlies.
"We have only today (Tuesday), tomorrow (Wednesday) to train. Thursday's training is not extensiveâit's not a training of higher intensity," he told Citi Sports.
The tight timeline played a key role in Addo's decision to call up only one replacement despite losing Iñaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante to injury. Rather than introduce two new players with limited time to integrate, the coach opted to add Hamburg forward Königsdörffer and work with the existing attacking options.
The 24-year-old arrived late Monday night and trained with the squad on Tuesday, with Asante Twum describing him as "looking very lively" in his first session.
With only two full training sessions before Friday's match, the technical team is focusing on sharpening tactical understanding and cohesion rather than high-intensity physical work.
Ghana will face Austria on March 27 in Vienna before travelling to Stuttgart to take on Germany three days later.
Both matches serve as vital preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
