The English top flight has decided that transfer business after the season begins is too much of a disruption and so, for the first time, the window closes before anyone gets on to the pitch.
Which leads to two problems.
1. A lot of clubs have barely seen some players since the World Cup ended.
2. The rest of Europe can still sign players for a couple of weeks.
