The awards, which will subsequently be conferred annually aim at identifying and publicly recognising the most outstanding CEOs across 19 delineated sectors of the economy, with a view to encouraging improved corporate governance and institutional leadership standards in the country. Winners and both the first and second runners up in each sector will be honoured at a red carpet buffet dinner awards ceremony scheduled for November 23 in Accra.
“In management, the concept of reward occupies an important position in the mix of incentives employed to achieve progressively improving performance of employees. The same result is also consistent when applied to leadership. It is from this philosophical background that we have conceived the idea of this Ghana Industry CEO Awards,” the Chief Executive officer of The Business Executive Ltd., Paulette Kporo, was quoted as saying.
She explains further: “The best way to appreciate this award concept is simply to think of it as a reward system - a public reward system - to recognize and reward corporate leadership in an uncommon way.”
Nominations is by the general public – both self nominations and third party nominations are allowed – which will be the first step in a thorough and painstaking process through which the eventual winners will be determined. After the closure of nominations, a dedicated team of research consultants will conduct due diligence and verify the claims made in the nominations, and from this will derive a short list of nominees who will subsequently be voted for by the general public in a process which will last from October 5 to October 19.
AA&K Services an indigenous auditing and management consultancy firm, rated “A” by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana [ICAG] will serve as voting validators and indeed have the mandate to supervise and ensure the integrity of the entire voting process.
