According to them, they do not understand why the chief will take that stance when over 60% of the youth are jobless while criminals have taken over the town.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, some of the angry youth explained that their hopes of getting jobs from the university construction had been cut.
“We were happy when we heard of the university construction because the only occupation in this town is farming and fishing which we don’t even get anything from.
“Our chief has hindered all developmental projects from happening in this community and that is why we are protesting but we have also petitioned another chief to speak to him and will also appeal to the president to intervene,” they said.
Tufuhene of Senya Bereku, Ipi Kwao Bentum, who received the petition, said he cannot contain the anger of the youth and appealed to the government to address the issue.
