A Plus asserts that prior to the 2016 elections, President Akufo-Addo blatantly lied to Ghanaians with a promise to reduce electricity tariffs.
“So is it that my own Nana Addo, the man I trusted so much is also just an ordinary lying Ghanaian politician who made fake promises to win power or he didn’t understand the actual situation on the ground when he was campaigning?” He asked on Facebook with an accompanying video of the President making the claim to reduce tariffs.
The musician-turned-politician bemoaned the deception of Ghanaian politicians perpetrated even on citizens who trust and love them.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission earlier this week announced an upward review of electricity by 5.94%.
It also announced increase water tariffs by 2.22% bringing the combined increase to over 8%.
In a statement, the PURC explained, the increase in tariffs was determined by the Automatic Adjustment Formula (AAF) which considers eight factors including inflation, in arriving at a review.
PURC announced, consumers should expect the increase to kick in on October 1, 2019.
