Speaking on Eyewitness News, Jerry Asamane, the Upper East Regional Coordinator of NADMO, explained that the initial figure of 29 was a cumulative number from other flooding incidents over the last two months.
“Cumulative numbers are directly related to deaths that have occurred as a result of floods but not necessarily this period. Figures were brought last month that were added to the current situation.”
“So we have the situational number which is 20 and we have the cumulative ones which are brought from other months to add up because they were all directly related to floods.” he added.
Most of the deaths from the torrential rainfall were recorded in the Kassena Nankana West District.
The worst-hit districts are the Builsa North, Builsa South, Kassena Nankana Municipal, Kassena Nankana West and Binduri.
