According to Mr Baako, a national consensus with stakeholders and the Minority as a distinct political party following the cancellation will help to reach a consensus on the way forward.
“A national consensus as to how to deal with it would have been better but the National Democratic Congress has its own attitude which I cannot ask them to stop perhaps the New Patriotic Party would have done the same thing if in opposition,” he said.
Speaking on Accra-based Metro Television, monitored by Adomonline.com, Mr Baako explained he anticipated a cancellation of the PDS deal following the sequence of events and communication as far as the PDS concession was concerned.
“This day comes with a lot of challenges with many looking at the $190m which is even a peanut but we had to bite the bullet the way we did,” he said.
To Mr Baako, it would have been a disaster if the government had accepted the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s proposal to lift the ban on PDS and provide a basis for suspending the concession. Read Full Story
