Kamoko alias Bukom Banku said he was yet to come to terms with the decision by the GBA to prevent him from fighting for failing to refund an amount of GH 17,000 he took from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Box Office Sports Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah, for a rematch with Bastie Samir.
The popular Ghanaian boxer failed to honour his part of the bargain by failing to honour the much-anticipated rematch with Bastie Samir despite taking an initial GH 17,000 for preparations from the promoters after agreeing to a contract.
But in a video he posted on his Facebook page, Bukom Banku blamed the GBA for being unfair to him having helped in the revival of the sport over the years.
“I am still yet to believe that the GBA has revoked my license for owing Alex Ntiamoah. Which license are they talking about, are they talking about my driving licence or what,” he said in the video while laughing.
“After all that I have done for the sport when boxing was dead, you still have the right to revoke my license because I owe a promoter,” Bukom Banku added.
The GBA’s Disciplinary Committee has reportedly suspended the boxer’s license following a round of hearings which concluded that the former African light heavyweight champion had breached his contract with Box Office Promotions having failed to honour a rematch with Bastie Samir.
Bastie Samir defeated Bukom Banku in seven rounds in their first fight in October 2017 in a popular bout that attracted so much interest from Ghanaians.
