Isaac Osei, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency in Kumasi, has donated items worth GH¢170,000 to his constituents to assist them in the areas of education, entrepreneurial skills and trade.
The package was funded through his share of the Social Investment Funds (SIF) and District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
The Subin Lawmaker indicated at the presentation ceremony that the gesture was to assist those in schools, especially those in the tertiary and second cycle institutions, to be able to achieve their dreams and become responsible citizens in future.
He also indicated that the assistance, in the area of entrepreneurial development, would enable beneficiaries to develop their entrepreneurial skills and expand their businesses, hence the equipment.
The beneficiaries received cheques covering amounts ranging between GH¢1,000 and GH¢2,000, and laptops to students in the tertiary and university institutions.
About 72 beneficiary students received GH¢500, while about 38, who are into entrepreneurship and trading, received industrial sewing machines, and curling machines for those into hairdressing, deep freezers for those into meat retailing, fishing and water businesses, Tricycle (Abobo Yaa), spraying machines and compressors for those in casket making.
The MP also presented a chainsaw to the Kumasi Prisons.
He entreated parents to take keen interest in the education of their wards by providing the necessary or basic needs, to enable them achieve their ambitions, and not to over rely on the government.
